We were inspired by the incredible work of Anlaby Community Champions to donate £350 worth of book hampers to schools on World Book Day.
Since the John Roe business was first established, we have been committed to supporting local communities and projects. So, when our Hull team discovered the work of Morrison’s Anlaby Community Champions last month, we knew we had to help.
We discussed ways in which we would help and agreed on contributing towards their World Book Day efforts by funding £350 worth of book hampers. These were donated to a selection of schools in the area, including:
The Bloc Nursery
Rokeby Primary School
Ainthorpe Primary School
St Anthonys Catholic Primary School
It has been a pleasure to support the incredible work of the Anlaby Community Champions, and we feel this team of wonderful people deserve recognition for selflessly delivering a pick-me-up in these strange times.
There is a real sense of family in what they do which is something that we pride our own business on and are always drawn towards. Their continuous efforts in making the community a better place warmed our hearts, and we look forward to working with them again in the future.
Many of the schools took to social media to express their gratitude, describing how their children will benefit from the generous donations and how their libraries will now be filled with exciting new books ahead of welcoming back all pupils next week.
This year, we are making a conscious effort to engage in more acts of kindness and eager to help out with important causes, for example securing £5,000 of funding from Toyota for Humberston Park Special School late last year.
